A Quick Card

Posted by Jeannette on 9 May 2011

Here’s another Wheel card, this one is Clean and Simple and so quick to make if you need a card in a hurry. The layering is raised off the card by dimensionals which you can’t see in the photo. I ran an Aqua Painter over the leaves and flowers which is very subtle.

1. Card – Crumb Cake, Whisper White and Rich Razzleberry
2. Papers – None
3. Stamps – Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel and occasional Quotes (L3 Hostess Set)

5. Dies – None

Friend

Posted by Jeannette on 5 May 2011

I must admit that I made this card quite a while ago and haven’t actually played with my Wheels for some time now.  I think that perhaps this weekend I’ll get them out and see what I can come up with.  I stamped the individual letters onto card and then punched them out using the 3/4″ Circle punch and then cut off the ends to get the letters closer together.  I always use the Crystal Effects after I have added the letters/images/chop board etc to the base card.  You just need to be careful at the edges if they aren’t raised like these ones are.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin’ Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Perfect Plum and Pear Pizzazz
2. Papers – Subtles DSP
3. Stamps – Friendly Words Wheel and Just Perfect Alphabet
4. Embellishments – Basic Pearls
5. Dies – None
6. Embossing Folders – None
7. Punches – Scallop Border, 3/4″ Circle and Large Corner (Not SU)
8. Tools – None
9. Mediums – VersaMark Pad, Basic Black Classic Stampin Pad, Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and Crystal Effects

Card Labels

Posted by Jeannette on 2 May 2011

I did this when I first started with Stampin’ Up! but with the colour renovation I just never got round to updating it all, till now.  I store my card stock in a Brown Archive box (landscape)  When I first started crafting I bought some card stock that I thought was a bargain, well I found out why once I got home with it.  But true to Crafters style I just couldn’t throw it away, I knew it would come in handy one day, and it did!  I use it for the dividers.  For my 12×12 card I use the piece of card that is packaged with the Designer Series Papers.  I used the Round Tab Punch to punch them out and if you space them correctly (slight overlap of the base) then you fit 10 of them perfectly along the landscape edge of the card divider.

If you would like the labels, just drop me an e-mail jeannette.eames@me.com.

A Note of Thanks

Posted by Jeannette on 30 April 2011

My monthly craft get together with 3 lovely ladies has been a bit sporadic over the last couple of months due to moving, holidays and illness.  This month we had it at my place for the first time and hopefully we can now get it back on track.  I didn’t have anything specific lined up but decided to give them a bit of a choice instead of the normal make and takes.  I have a set of four cards that are part of my May Class and I let them decide which two they would like to make and choose their own colours too.  This one here was the favourite hands down.

If you live in the Manchester/Warrington area and would like to come to one of my classes please drop me an e-mail for more details.

Love is like a Butterlfy…

Posted by Jeannette on 28 April 2011

I must admit that I made this card a while ago, but I thought now was the perfect time to show it.  If you want to keep the wings lifted, put a dimensional under the wing close to the centre but don’t take the backing off.   This works brilliantly especially if your posting your card.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin’ Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing bride and Whisper White
2. Papers – None
3. Stamps – Butterfly Prints
4. Embellishments – Pear Pizzazz Stitched-Poly Ribbon
5. Dies – None
6. Embossing Folders – None
7. Punches – Butterfly and Large Oval

9. Mediums – Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz Stampin Pads and Stampin Markers

Just Because

Posted by Jeannette on 27 April 2011

I’m not a huge Rose Red fan but I really wanted to use some of this scrummy Seam Binding Ribbon so after some playing around and my second Double Bow this is what I came up with.   Looking at it now I think it’s lacking some texture the background looks a bit flat.  I think I’ll go back and have another go at this one, and maybe use a different colour combo too.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin’ Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Whisper White
2. Papers – None
3. Stamps – Clearly for You, Notably Ornate and Four Frames Four
4. Embellishments – Rose Red Seam Binding Ribbon
5. Dies – None
6. Embossing Folders – None
7. Punches – Decorative Label, Modern Label and Corner
8. Tools – None
9. Mediums – Not Quite Navy and Rose Red Classic Stampin Pads

Cards for Men

Posted by Jeannette on 25 April 2011

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, Mens cards are not my thing.  I’m not very good at doing these at all and quite often I’d prefer to just go out and buy one rather than sitting there for hour’s with nothing but a crappy card to show.  However I didn’t do too badly with this one.  I added the banner at the last-minute that’s why there’s so much space at the bottom, had I known when I’d started I would have torn the card further down but I had already stuck it together.  I didn’t take a photo of the inside but when you open it there’s a little pocket for some money to go into.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin’ Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Real Red, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake and Whisper White
2. Papers – None
3. Stamps – Plane and Simple
4. Embellishments – Linen Thread
5. Dies – None
6. Embossing Folders – None
7. Punches – 1/16″ Circle
8. Tools – None
9. Mediums – StaZon and VersaMark

Spackle

Posted by Jeannette on 24 April 2011

I have two cards today!  I bought some Artist Spackle which is an ultra thick textural medium.  When I saw this I had one thing in mind and that was Stampin’ Up! Re-Inkers.  The Spackle is white and you can add the re-inkers to get whatever colour you want.  For this card I added Pink Pirouette and used a Mask.  If the bow doesn’t look to great, it’s because it’s my first Double Bow.

For the next card I decided to go one further and althoung I left the Spackle white I did create my own mask by punching a border into some card using the small heart punch.

This is a close up so you can see the texture and dimension.  I had fun playing with this and I have a few more idea’s up my sleeve which I’ll share at a later date.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin’ Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Pink Pirouette and Whisper White
2. Papers – Subtle DSP
3. Stamps – Occasional Quotes (3 Hostess Set
4. Embellishments – Whisper White Tafetta and Organza Ribbons
5. Dies – Top Note
6. Embossing Folders – None
7. Punches – Decorative Label and Heart Small
8. Tools – Big Shot
9. Mediums – StaZon, Pink Pirouette Re-Inker and Artist Spackle (Not SU!)

My Craft Room

Posted by Jeannette on 22 April 2011

I bought the last item from Ikea last night after work and moved the final bookcase in today.  With some rearranging it is now finally done.  I can guarantee it’s not going to stay this tidy for long, I’m already itching to get in there and make a mess!

This is the view from the door.

This is from the far corner looking back at the door.  The bookshelf outside the door now needs a new home somewhere else, I just don’t know where yet.

This is the right hand side from the door going towards the window.

This is my cutting area (notice my brand new toy which arrived this week)

And this takes us back to the door again.  I decided to get a Dining room table rather than a desk because I would like to start having crafters around and this was the only way to go.  The table as it is now against the wall fits 4 – 5 people comfortably. If I move it away from the wall that will accommodate another 2 – 3 .  If it’s fully extended I could fit 10 people but it may be a bit of a squash for the room size.

The bookshelf above replaced the white one,  I can get my books on this one and still display cards and projects, whereas the white one was not deep enough for the books.  You know how everyone has a hideaway space, cupboard etc to hide what you don’t want or need to be visible?  Well I have one too and it’s called my bedroom, so that’s the next room that needs to be sorted out.  But first I think I need to get creative!

Hope you enjoyed looking.

And Another…

Posted by Jeannette on 21 April 2011

Now for something different…

Posted by Jeannette on 20 April 2011

I thought I’d give you a break from Wedding Cards, especially as I still have a few to show.  My idea for this card came fom an Idea book for a certain machine that I recently purchased (was delivered yesterday afternoon, so watch this space over the weekend) anyway back to the card.  I used an embossing folder again but this time I didn’t actually emboss with it.  I took the VersaMark Pad and inked up one side of the folder, lay it flat on the desk, then took my cardstock and lay it on top and then ran my brayer over it.  I love how it only outlines the pattern and doesn’t actually block the pattern (IYKWIM).

I inked up the Chipboard letter with Whisper White, dried it with the Heat Gun, then inked it with Bashful Blue, ran it  through the Big Shot using the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder and finally covered it with Crystal Effects.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin’ Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Real Red, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake and Whisper White
2. Papers – None
3. Stamps – Basic Phrases
4. Embellishments – Clip Assortment, On Board Alphabet Soup and On Board mix & Match
5. Dies – Elegant Bouquet
6. Embossing Folders – Vintage Wallpaper
7. Punches – Corner Small
8. Tools – Big Shot, Heat Gun and Brayer
9. Mediums – Bashful Blue and Real Red Classic Stampin Pad, Whisper White Craft Stampin Pad,Versamark Pad and Crystal Effects

Wedding Day

Posted by Jeannette on 19 April 2011

I thought I’d attempt another layer card using a single colour.  I was planning on using the Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon but ended up using Marina Mist instead.  I had made a Bookmark with this ribbon just before I started this card.  I know I keeping saying this but the Shimmery White Card is absolutely perfect for Wedding Cards.  It’s slightly thicker than Whisper White and Very Vanilla and it has this beautiful shimmer to it (hence the name).  If you remember it was part of the March Frenzy, well I took advantage of the discount and bought loads of it.

I embossed the top card using the small background stamp in the Clearly for You set.  Because this stamp is quite fine you don’t really need to worry about lining it up exactly, I just lined it up by eye and stamped until I had filled the card.  I didn’t have the clear label on the stamp either it was straight out the box.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin’ Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Shimmery White
2. Papers – None
3. Stamps – Clearly for You and Occasional Quotes (L3 Hostess Set)
4. Embellishments – Basic Pearls and Marina Mist Grosgrain Ribbon
5. Dies – None
6. Embossing Folders – Vintage Wallpaper
7. Punches – Corner Small
8. Tools – Big Shot
9. Mediums – Marina Mist Classic Ink Pad, Versamark Pad  and Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder

Home Decor

Posted by Jeannette on 18 April 2011

This weekend was a bit of a disaster, I didn’t get anything done that I had planned.  When I make cards I normally put them on the wall unit in the lounge for a while.  This way I sort of get a feel for them and either figure out that 1) I Love it. 2) I Hate it or 3) There’s something missing.  This is what inspired this project.  To take the photo I had to take it out of the frame as the glass is fixed to it, so I couldn’t just remove it and then take the photo on the wall.  I added some Baja Breeze to fit the colour scheme.

And here it is on the wall in my lounge.  I’m not to sure about the colour of the frame or the white mount, I was thinking about colouring with Crumb Cake.  What do you think?

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, and Very Vanilla
2. Papers – None
3. Stamps – Confetti
4. Embellishments – Basic Rhinestones and Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon
5. Dies – Beautiful Butterflies
6. Embossing Folders – Vintage Wallpaper
7. Punches – Corner Large (Corner Chomper)
8. Tools – Big Shot
9. Mediums – Baja Breeze Classic Ink Pad

Beautiful Butterfly

Posted by Jeannette on 15 April 2011

I’ve seen quite a few of these single colour cards, especially white ones on the US sites and I love them! You do need texture and dimension to be able to carry them off, so last night this is what I rustled up. I couldn’t resist adding another Neutral colour and left the card stock smooth as I think the Butterfly has enough dimension on it’s own.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla
2. Papers – None
3. Stamps – Curly Cute
4. Embellishments – Basic Rhinestones and Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon
5. Dies – Beautiful Butterflies
6. Embossing Folders – Vintage Wallpaper
7. Punches – Corner Small
8. Tools – Big Shot
9. Mediums – Crumb Cake Classic Ink Pad
