Thank You

Sorry to bore you with yet another card using my “favourite” technique. When sanding the embossed DSP I’ve found that the darker the colour the less sanding you need. I am forever grateful to Stampin’ Up! For listening to us and finally giving us the Big Shot. It’s amazing how different your cards look by just adding texture and dimension.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White
2. Papers – In Colors DSP Pattern Stack
3. Stamps – Tiny Tags and Occasional Quotes(L3 Hostess Set)

My Nieces

Posted by Jeannette on 10 April 2011

Only thing still to do is add their Birth dates.

April Training Swaps

Posted by Jeannette on 9 April 2011

I should have arrived at Julie’s by the time this post is published. I can honestly say that I’m so glad I only needed to do 16. I’d still be there putting them together if I’d needed more. Normally I try to keep swap cards nice and simple purely because they can be very time consuming if you don’t. However I thought as it’s a smallish group I’d do a bit more, plus I have some making up to do.

Here is the finished product featuring my new favourite technique/effect.

Here they all are together. You may notice that there are 2 versions but that was only because I had run out of the pattern DSP.

I know I’m in for a fab day today and I might just let you all know how it went later in the week. Have a fab day whatever your doing!

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette Textured, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White
2. Papers – Neutrals DSP Pattern Stack
3. Stamps – Just Perfect Alphabet, Four Frames, and Something to Celebrate (L2 Hostess Set)
4. Embellishments – Linen Thread, and Silver Brads
5. Tools – Modern Label, Word Window, 3/4″ Circle, and Decorative Label Punches, and Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
6. Mediums – Classic Ink Pads

Training Swap Sneak Peak

Posted by Jeannette on 8 April 2011

I’m off to Training tomorrow with my FAB Up line Julie and some of my Stampin Up! Family. The last few times I have attended an event I haven’t managed to do any swaps as I’ve been so busy with work and travel. While that hasn’t really changed much I have made the time and effort to do some swaps for tomorrow.

It took me longer to decide on my card design than it did to do the prep. All this will turn into 16 of what I hope will be fabulous swap cards. This is the photo pre final prep, I still had one or two things to do before assembling.

If you want to see the assembled card, please come back tomorrow and it’ll be here at 10am.

Blow me over with a feather…

Posted by Jeannette on 7 April 2011

I can’t believe I’ve actually managed 3 posts this month; hopefully it’s a sign of things to come! I am having a fab time with the products from the Mini Catalogue. Using the Big Shot dies and embossing folders gives your projects a whole new look and opens up so many interesting ideas and techniques. Here is one using an embossing folder, DSP Paper and a sanding block. I just love this effect even though I’m not a huge fan of the vintage or distressed look. It’s kind of softer if that makes any sense.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Bashful Blue, and Whisper White
2. Papers – Subtles DSP Pattern Stack
3. Stamps – Something to Celebrate (L2 Hostess Set)
4. Embellishments – Neutrals Designer Buttons
5. Tools – Fun Flowers Die, Square Lattice, Perfect Polka Dots, and Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folders.
6. Mediums – Bashful Blue Classic Ink Pad

Shoebox Swap – Part 1

Posted by Jeannette on 4 April 2011

I recently went to a Shoebox Swap hosted by the lovely Jane. We made some wonderful 3D projects and had a fab day with lots of talking and crafting. Here is the Project I made, which pales in comparison to the other projects. I have used an On Board 5″ x 5″ Art Journal as the base of this project.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Early Espresso, Old Olive, and Pink Pirouette
2. Papers – Subtles DSP Pattern Stack
3. Stamps – Art by Design
4. Embellishments – Early Espresso Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding, Sweet Stitches Designer Big Buttons
5. Tools – Flower Daisies #2 Die, Little Leaves Die, Spiral Border Punch, and Large Designer Label Punch
6. Mediums – Early Espresso Classic Ink Pad and Marker Pen

Here is the beautiful box that was Jane’s project. I didn’t finish it on the day because I had cut the window too large (that’s what happens when you talk too much). So I re-created it this weekend. I converted Jane’s measurements to Inches but because I don’t like the fiddly inches and try to work in whole, halves or quarters as much as possible, it is now slightly larger than the original. I must say that I really enjoyed doing this and I will definitely be doing more in different colours.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card – Very Vanilla and Basic Black
2. Papers – Newsprint DSP
3. Stamps – Something to Celebrate (L2 Hostess Set)
4. Embellishments – Basic Black Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Linen Thread, and Basic Pearls
5. Tools – Fun Flowers Die, Little Leaves Die, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, 1″, 1/2″, and 1/8″ Circle Punches, and Word Window Large Punch
6. Mediums – Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad

I’ll be back next Monday to show you the other two fabulous projects we made.

Bump In The Night

Posted by Jeannette on 19 October 2009

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card.  When I first thought about doing a haloween card I thought oh n0!, but once I got started and knew what I wanted it just fell into place.  Another very C&S  card but I think it looks really good, especially IRL.  I was going to use Crystal Effects on the chipboard letters but when you colour them, they dry with this wonderful suede effect and feel to them, I just love it.  I can’t stop touching them.

One Person

Posted by Jeannette on 12 October 2009

There’s nothing like some Kristina Werner inspiration when you need to get back into the swing of things.  Here is a very simple card using the fab New Speciality Designer Series Paper – To the Nines, they really shouldn’t be called papers because they are nothing like paper.  They have a beautiful weight to them and are more like card, they also have this wonderful texture.   I just love them and I can see lots of cards and projects being made with these.

Colour Combo:

Colour Combo: Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Close To Cocoa, and Sage Shadow

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)

Back Again!

Posted by Jeannette on 11 October 2009

I’m back, so sorry I haven’t blogged in such a long time.  I was away on holiday in Scotland, had a really FAB weekend with My Stampin’ Up! Mum, Sisters and Cousins (I’ll be a posting all about that as soon as I catch up with everything), and I have had the most unbelievable time with my teeth.  I’ve had some extensive work done on them over the last couple of months.

The last work being done was to crown my back lower teeth, I had a week with temps on and then two with the permanents, but the last three weeks have been unbearable.  I’ve been on painkillers every 4 hours or so and on Friday morning at about 3am they decided to stop working.  For those that have had bad toothache you’ll know that it’s all over, sometimes you can’t even identify the tooth which is causing all the trouble.  I had toothache in teeth that I don’t even have anymore.  Friday afternoon I finally had a root canal done, it took my Dentist about 5 minutes to figure out which one it was. I had left if for so long as firstly I was on holiday and had the weekend with the Girls, then I was back at work after being off for two and a half weeks, and finally I really was hoping it would all settle down by itself.

Well Friday night I was starting to think all was going well and that I would have a good nights sleep especially as I’d been up since 3am.  Sadly no such luck, I woke at 4:30 with toothache.  I panicked slightly thinking we’d done the wrong tooth, but this time the pain wasn’t as intense as before and I was hoping that it was only due to the work that had been done.  Last night I went to bed with my glass of water and pain killers, fell asleep and woke up at 7:45.  Woo Hoo! The pain killers were still on the bedside table.  It’s now after two in the afternoon and I’ve not had any all day.

So here’s to things getting back to normal and being able to think and concentrate again.  That is till next Friday, my second last appointment to do my final two teeth.  It would have been my last one but the root canal has put me out by a week.

Cupcake Craft Challenge #58

Posted by Jeannette on 21 September 2009

Another day, another week!  This weeks CC Challenge is distressing.  Another quick card but this is a great way to get rid of bits, and if they’re a bit crumply so what, distress the edges and then they’re meant to look crumply.  I love this Simply Scrappin’ Kit.  I’m going to be using it for my “Journal Your Christmas” this year.  Everything is from the kit with the exception of the snow flakes, they are stamped onto Very Vanilla CS which is the Base of the card.  The edges were done using the fab Cutter kit distressing tool.  If you don’t have one you could use a ruler to tear the paper instead of cutting it or you could use a File to rough up the edges.

Colour Combo:

Colour Combo: Very Vanilla, Real Red, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip

Check out the Design Teams cards for some other great idea’s on Distressing, and don’t forget to enter the challenge while your there.

Supplies Used: (All Stampin Up! Unless Otherwise Stated)
1. Card, Paper, Embellishments – Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin’ Kit
2. Stamps – Snow Flurries
5. Tools – Cutter Kit
6. Mediums – Stampin’ Pad

Cheers!

Posted by Jeannette on 16 September 2009

I’m posting this from my hotel room and guess what I’m using. An Apple Mac! The Hotel has one in all their rooms instead of a TV and they have free Internet access. How Cool is that? The only problem is that I had already wanted an apple but was quite happy to wait, but now that I’ve actually had a play on one I WANT it! NOW!  Sadly I will have to wait, anyhow onto today’s card. I really had fun with making this card, I think this Stamp Set is going to be very popular. This is just one of six in the set. Come back on Friday to see another of the stamps from this set.

Cheers
